If you know the area, you will have no trouble at all. We are in the village of Beddgelert opposite the National Park Information Centre on the A498 going towards Porthmadog.
Coming from Mid or South Wales
Head from either Penrhyndeudraeth and take the A4085, then turn right on to the A498; or you can come into Porthmadog and take the A498 to Tremadog, turn right still on the A498, stay on that road until you come through the Aberglaslyn Pass and into Beddgelert. On your left is the Royal Goat Hotel and a few yards further on the right is Coed Gelert. The entrance is immediately opposite the National Park Information Centre.
Coming from the South of England
Leave the M6 motorway at the interchange with the M54. Stay on the M54 until it becomes the A5 and follow through until you get to Capel Curig. Turn left onto the A4086, past three lakes to Pen-Y-Gwyrd Hotel. Do Not Turn Right. Carry straight on A498 and wind down the Nantgwynant Valley, past two lakes, until you come into the village of Beddgelert.
Turn left over the main road bridge in the centre of the village (A498 towards Porthmadog), past the village shop on your left and Coed Gelert is about 30 yards further on your left. The entrance is immediately opposite the National lark Information Centre. It you get to the Royal Goat Hotel, you’ve gone too far!
Coming from the North
Join the A55 Expressway: Either through to Caernarfon (NB between Bangor and Caernarfon it becomes the A487). In Caernarfon, take the A4085 signposted Beddgelert. Go through Caeathro, second exit on roundabout, still A4085.
Pass through Waunfawr, Betws Garmon, Rhyd Ddu and come into Beddgelert. In the centre of the village, turn right over the main road bridge (A498 towards Porthmadog), past the village shop on your left and Coed Gelert is about 30 yards further on your left. The entrance is immediately opposite the National Park Information Centre. If you get to the Royal Goat Hotel, you’ve gone too far!
Or exit at Llandudno Junction, taking the A470 to Betws-y-Coed. Turn right onto the A5 to Capel Curig. Then turn left onto the A4086, past three lakes to Pen-Y-Gwyrd Hotel. Do Not Turn Right. Carry straight on A498 and wind down the Nantgwynant Valley, past two lakes, until you come into the village of Beddgelert.
